Vintage tribal headpiece from the Balochi people. Made in a design typical for the Pakistani tribes. Linked metal headpiece is attached to a new fabric base, with a circular band running around the head like a headband, and another running front to back across the top of the head. It fits a bit like a cap. Entire piece measures about 22 inches around. Front of band is about 2.25 inches wide. Glass jewels in traditional red and green colors. The qulity of this piece is amazing and it is in excellent condition.
The Baloch or Baluch are semi-nomadic Iranian people who live mainly in the Balochistan region, located at the southeasternmost edge of the Iranian plateau, encompassing the countries of Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. Balochi women wear an assortment of nose-rings, earrings, rings on fingers and toes, necklaces, bracelets, and ornaments in the hair. Jewelry is typically made from gold, silver, or less desireable metals, depending on one's means.
