Small pair of vintage tribal silver Kuchi Afghani pendants with glass jewels.

Length: 2.5 inches
Width: 1.5 inches
Materials: Tribal Silver 80% to 90%,  Glass Jewels
Attachment:  Bales at the top

Beautiful small pair of Kuchi silver tribal pendants.  Made from a good silver alloy.  2.5 inches long, including dangling bells at the bottom.  1.5 inches wide.  Body of pendants are dome shaped.  Small glass jewels add a touch of color.  Small glass beads are strung between the bells to prevent the loss of the smaller components which are made of the same precious metal as the body of the pendants.  These personal pieces may have adorned a necklace, or been worn attached to costuming.  These intriguing small older pieces are as individual as the tribal people who  have made and worn them for centuries.

Adorable small round Kuchi pendants are slightly dome shaped and remind me of the larger domed pendants used on headpieces across the Middle East.  These would be perfect on a tribal belly dance DIY headpiece, one on each side.

Kuchi means "nomad" in the Afghan Dari language. The livelihood and culture of the Kuchis have been all but destroyed by conflict, drought, and demographic shifts. Some 200,000 Kuchis are displaced in Afghanistan; an equal or larger number are refugees in Pakistan; and hundreds of thousands of others are eking out a precarious existence in urban or rural areas in Afghanistan. Only a small number of Kuchis still follow their traditional livelihood of nomadic herding.

A NOTE ON THE CONDITION OF TRIBAL ITEMS: Our jewelry is used tribal jewelry, from faraway lands.   As used pieces our items will be tarnished or otherwise reflect their prior lives as treasured tribal pieces.   Please know that we strive to maintain the tribal allure of our items and therefore we DO NOT CLEAN or repair these pieces in any way.  This not only maintains the old, tribal look of each piece that our belly dance customers seek, but also preserves the value of a piece that cleaning, and especially polishing, would destroy.

We do our best to describe any flaws that may be present, and we encourage you to read the full description and look at all photos closely to judge the condition of the item for yourself and know exactly what you are ordering.  If you have questions about the condition of any item, please ask!
