Pair of silver jhumka style earrings from the Sindh province in Pakistan.
Materials: Tribal Silver, (silver content unknown)
Length: 3 inches including earwires
Width: 1 inch
Earwire Gauge: About a 12 gauge
Classic tribal chandelier earrings in silver. These earrings have large hooks at the top, star or flower shaped disks and filigree bell-shaped drops with small bell dangles. The wires on these are somewhat thick, I would say a 12 to 11 gauge so are not suitable unless your piercings have been stretched. Flower disks and bells have been silver tested to .900 or better, some of the small dangles may be a lesser percentage. These are a little heavy, but not too bad. If you are used to large or heavy earrings or will be wearing these through tunnels, I don't think they would be any problem. About 3 inches long including top wires. About 1 inch wide. A lovely bit of tribal culture to add to your collection. These earrings are old and have been used many times, so do show some wear. A few of the small bells are missing. I can replace them if you wish, but the replacements will be mixed metals and not silver. Earrings in a classic tribal style perfect for tribal belly dance costuming.
Sindh is one of the four provinces of Pakistan in the southeast, near the borders of Rajasthan and Gujarat, India. Many of the jewelry traditions of all these areas overlap, and the styles worn there will reflect the influences of all three regions.
A NOTE ON THE CONDITION OF TRIBAL ITEMS: Our jewelry is used tribal jewelry, from faraway lands. As used pieces our items will be tarnished or otherwise reflect their prior lives as treasured tribal pieces. Please know that we strive to maintain the tribal allure of our items and therefore we DO NOT CLEAN or repair these pieces in any way. This not only maintains the old, tribal look of each piece that our belly dance customers seek, but also preserves the value of a piece that cleaning, and especially polishing, would destroy.
We do our best to describe any flaws that may be present, and we encourage you to read the full description and look at all photos closely to judge the condition of the item for yourself and know exactly what you are ordering. If you have questions about the condition of any item, please ask!
