Tuareg beaded necklace from Morocco with large pendant featuring natural stone.  Beaded strand of black glass beads and small metal tube beads.  Lovely Tuareg pendant is in a traditional oval shape with etched designs encircling an onyx stone. There is a Tifinagh signature by the artist who made it on the back of the pendant.  This piece is new.

Tifinagh is a script used to write the Berber languages. The Tuareg are a nomadic Berber people, primarily based in the Sahara. The Tuareg are also known as the Blue People because of their indigo-rich clothing. They principally inhabit the Sahara in a vast area stretching from far southwestern Libya to southern Algeria, Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso and into Nigeria. Traditionally they are nomadic pastoralists. Their jewelry is distinctive for the use of geometric shapes and incised designs that have a timeless appeal.
